Costa Calma is situated on the south facing shoreline of Fuerteventura Spain and is 36 miles south west of the airport. A purpose built vacation resort, it occupies rolling ground that slopes down to the beach. The focal attraction is the long Sotovento beach of white sand and dunes shelving into calm clear water, and has ideal conditions for windsurfing. The surrounding shoreline stretches for 18 miles. The resort has a main shopping center plus other general shops, restaurants including Chinese, German and customary cuisine and a sprinkling of cafes and bars, scattered along the coast road.

According to Sotavento information, the windiest month is July with 95-100% of days having above force 4, 70% above force 7. Next best months are June and August with 90-95% above force 4, 33% above force 7. More or less this part of the island is always going to be windiest in the summer (when the trade winds blow). The wind in the North never seems to be as strong as it is here.
